Groundwork For Independence
Westhab’s Transitional Housing (i.e. shelter) programs help homeless individuals and families regain stability and secure permanent housing. Our comprehensive service model helps with housing, employment, and connection to community-based resources so residents can achieve permanent self-sufficiency and independence.
Transitional Housing programs are a crucial part of our community’s safety net, especially as we work to expand the supply of quality affordable housing.

PAVING THE ROAD TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY
Pathways to Permanent Housing

Providing Shelter
Westhab provides +2,500 units for NYC’s homeless individuals and families and is Westchester County’s largest provider with +200 units of housing. All residents receive support to achieve permanent housing and independence.

Finding Housing
Housing Specialists navigate residents through the homeless services system and into permanent housing by supporting their housing cases, from rental assistance applications to searching the housing market for a new home.

Employment Services
Every site has access to employment services that connect residents with jobs and resources to support their financial independence.

Case Management
Case Manger s serve as a guide for each household connecting them to additional services like social services, mental health resources, etc.

Youth Services
Youth Services staff provide academic support and recreation to homeless families during their stay. Providing youth in shelter with essential resources and a sense of normalcy sets them up for success when the time comes to transition out of shelter.
