Bundles of Joy and Junior League of Bronxville Host Baby Shower at Dayspring Community Center

Last month, Westhab partnered with Bundles of Joy and the Junior League of Bronxville to host a baby shower for 25 pregnant and new mothers at our Dayspring Community Center in Yonkers.

“Too often, our clients go through their pregnancy without the support systems that many women in better circumstances have. Instead of enjoying this exciting time, they are struggling to make ends meet and keep a roof over their heads,” said Hazel Benavides, Westhab’s Senior Case Work for Young Adults, who organized the event. “This shower let us celebrate them!”

Each guest of honor was presented with a bundle featuring a 7am Enfant donated diaper bag or warm stroller and car seat cover and a special book donated by The Bronxville Public Library. The bundles were stuffed with toiletries, toys, and gear that will help these clients enjoy their new baby!

“At Bundles of Joy NY, it’s our mission to reach the most vulnerable members of our community and provide them with items that no baby or mother should go without. We love working with Westhab because that’s their specialty. They’ve enabled us to connect those who have with those who need all while bolstering the pride and dignity of the people we serve.,” said Adrienne Harper, founder of the Bronxville-based not-for-profit organization that provides essentials to babies, toddlers and new parents in critical need.

Westhab clients from our supportive housing and homeless services programs joined their caseworkers to enjoy dessert donated by Chantilly Patisserie and Simply Made Fancy in the community room, which had been transformed by J & R Royalty Balloons.

Immediately following the festivities, the Lower Hudson Valley Perinatal Network led a workshop to share important information for these mothers-to-be.
