Westhab is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Petrocelli, Jr. to the position of First Vice Chair.

Mr. Petrocelli joined Westhab's Board of Directors in 2009 and is currently the Managing Director of Petrocelli Financial Services, an insurance brokerage affiliate of New York Life Insurance Company. Westhab Board Chair Jesse Krasnow noted that, "Bob brings endless energy to our Board and a deep commitment to Westhab's mission. He is an amazing ambassador for Westhab and we know that he will continue to champion our cause in his new role."

Dear Friends,

In February, Westhab lost the patriarch of our family - Charles 'Charlie' Weinberg, a Westhab Founder and long-time Board Chair, who passed away at the age of 94. The Weinberg family asked that people give to a charity of their choosing in lieu of flowers, and many have chosen to give to Westhab to continue Mr. Weinberg's legacy. It is a fitting way to pay tribute to an incredible leader.

It continues to be a very exciting time for Westhab. Our new real estate projects are moving forward. We're upgrading our existing housing.  And, we're adding new supportive housing and employment programs. We are as strong as we've been in years and with our new 2015-2017 Strategic Plan, we are poised for a multi-year investment in the organization, deepening our impact on the thousands of people that rely on Westhab's housing and services every day.

Our deepest appreciation for your continued partnership.

Sincerely,

AmeriCorps Members Aid Youth,
Improve Literacy Rates

Westhab AmeriCorps members and teachers from BOCES of Southern Westchester provided intensive literacy services to 83 eager elementary and middle school participants at four Westhab youth centers this winter. Children who completed the program increased their literacy rates by an average of 3.2 levels.  Addressing literacy early on enables Westhab's homeless and low-income participants to stay on track through grade school and secure the futures that they deserve.  Great job team!
